1952 was a fantastic year for Daimler-Benz AG and the newly developed futuristically designed Mercedes-Benz 300SL racing sport coupes. Coming off of recent wins at LeMans and a 2nd place finish in the Mille Miglia, they decided to enter 4 of these new racing coupes in the Carrera Panamericana Mexico...a race lasting 5 days and 3100 kilometers through Mexico. After a slow beginning, 2 of these 300SL's eventually finished 1st and 2nd setting speed records and  further enhancing the legend of the gullwing. In the last section of the race alone, the winning car produced an average speed of over 218 kilometers per hour. Famed automotive artist Nicolas Hunziker has capured a moment in time from this 1952 race with his original painting depicted here on our newest line of Hunzinger T -shirts. These shirts are available in sizes M-XXL.
