Cold driving problems can sometimes be traced to the EGR valve. Use a vacuum tester on the vacuum connection to see if the EGR valve holds vacuum. If it doesn't, replace it before the exhaust from the leaking diaphragm contaminates the rest of the vacuum system attached to it. Be sure to replace the corrugated EGR tube if it is damaged (if applicable).
